Ah, half term!

We’ve just about made it! Half term, phew!

Don’t get me wrong, it will be a tough old week with nothing to do but won’t it be wonderful to not have to be organised? I started out with great intentions but I’ve slowly slipped into printing things 5 minutes before the Zoom, books all over the place and my secondary school history teacher ringing in my ears “fail to plan and you plan to fail.”

To keep everyone going, I’ve fully got in the Valentine’s spirit this year and secretly decorated the kitchen with a surprise afternoon tea organised for tomorrow’s supper. I can’t wait to see their little faces in the morning, even if it was a slight fail on my part forgetting the helium, so the heart balloons are upside down and resemble something else entirely!

I think this is the only way I can break up the monotony by counting down to the next thing we can make exciting like Pancake Day, Easter, my birthday, Friday night kitchen discos and anything else we can jump on between. At least by Easter the weather should hopefully be in our favour. We can start spending the afternoons outside without freezing and the dreaded hot ache tears when we go back inside.

It will definitely do Wilf some good to feel the Valentine’s love. He asked me at the end of his Apple Tree Farm story today if Poppy got the pony because they killed Mr Stone. When I questioned why, it was because bad men have to be killed or put in a cage. Maybe time for a superhero break!

What are you doing to break up the monotony?

Must remember helium next time 🤦🏻‍♀️.
